Once again Shingleback entered a number of wines in the 2 major European wine shows and we were rewarded with a number of medals. From 9 entries in the Viennese International Wine Challenge, 6 Gold & 3 Silver medals - most  pleasing were Golds for both the 2010 Red Knot Shiraz & Cabernet - a great endorsement  for readily available wines that are often priced at aound the $10 - $12.00 mark! Our success also continued in Germany, at the annual Mundus Vini Wine Awards - 2 Golds & 3 Silvers. The 2009 Shingleback reds are just spectacular!

“McLaren Vale Scarce Earth” is a regional initiative, launched in 2011 with wines from the 2009 vintage, involving the release of selected single block McLaren Vale Shiraz which highlight the distinctive sites of the region. After facing 3 separate tasting panels, wines from 17 wineries make up the 2009 selection - the grapes come from a single block, rather than single vineyard, the vines must be at least 10 years old & the winemaking style is one of minimal intervention to highlight the site expression.
The wines will be available exclusively from the individual Cellar Doors for the months of May, June & July 2011.

The offering from Shingleback is the 2009 Shingleback Unedited Shiraz. available exclusively from the Cellar Door, The Unedited Shiraz is deep garnet in colour. Primary aromas of blackberry and blueberry are interwoven with threads of savoury mocha and minty chocolate. From the first taste a compote of dark berry fruit and mouth-watering textural elements coat the tongue and cheeks. The obviously ripe, but vibrantly fresh berry flavours are defined by a balanced acidity and an earthy minerality.

Once again, Shingleback is delighted to be invited to participate in the G'day USA programme, which is now arguably the largest single foreign country promotion held annually in the USA. G'Day USA is an fortnight of events designed to showcase Australian business capabilities in the US. It is a bi-coastal celebration with top Aussie celebrities, film makers, chefs and politicians taking part.

Shingleback is once again being poured at the LA Black Tie Gala and we are very excited to be the exclusive winery to be represented at the inaugural Boston Black Tie Dinner on Australia Day, January 26th.

Congratulations are in order for Peter, Jane and Renee who have steered the Shingleback Cellar Door into a Top 4 position in the annual McLaren Vale Cellar Door Awards. 28 cellar doors were judged on criteria that included: signage, water, other regional attractions (brochures), alternatives for non tasters (art / merchandise), ambience and overall comfort of the cellar door. More congratulations to the team at Woodstock - a very worthy overall winner!
