MUNDUS VINI GREAT INTERNATIONAL WINE AWARDS 2009

European Success Continues

The medal results for the 2009 Mundus Vini Great International Wine Awards (Germany) have been announced.

Following on from their success in the 2007 & 2008 competitions, when Shingleback was named “Overseas Producer of the Year”, the hard work of Shingleback’s winemakers John Davey & Dan Hills has been recognized again with their current release, the 2006 Shingleback Shiraz, being awarded a Grand Gold medal at this year’s competition.

Gold medals were awarded to the 2006 Shingleback D Block Cabernet Sauvignon (giving it a total of 6 Gold medals), and the not-yet-released 2007 Shingleback Shiraz and the 2007 Shingleback Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2008 Shingleback Chardonnay had to be content with a Silver medal.

The Mundus Vini competition is the largest officially recognised international wine award under the patronage of the OIV (Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin). The 2009 competition judged 5726 entries from 44 countries.

AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION 2010

JAMES HALLIDAY

August always signals the eagerly awaited release of the latest edition of James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion. Having scored 5 black stars in 2008 & 2009 we had our fingers crossed, hoping to make it three 5 star years in a row and reaching the red star level.

We weren't disappointed! 5 Red Stars for the winery and great scores across the board. Top scoring for us with 95 is the 2006 The Gate Shiraz (but you'll have to wait for the release of that one) and we were particularly happy with the 93 given to the '06 Shingleback Shiraz and the 90 points given to our "quaffer" - the 2007 Red Knot McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Points can be found on the relevant pages in "Our Wines" or the Award section.
